Gene Marshall is the immediate Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Council for Educational Change, an independent educational non-profit organization serving the state of Florida. He is a founding member of the board of Northstar Bank - a community bank organized in the State of Florida and headquartered in Tampa.
Gene is a retired Senior Vice President of JPMorgan Chase Bank and former Regional Operations Executive of the Tampa and San Antonio centers within the retail sector. Mr. Marshall joined The Chase Manhattan Bank in 1969 in New York City. After spending 21 years in various management positions in global bank operations in New York, he moved to the Retail Banking Sector and relocated to Tampa Bay in 1990, where he built and managed operations processing centers in Tampa and San Antonio .He was named Senior Vice President in 1993. He retired in June of 2004 after a career of 35 years with the bank. Mr. Marshall continues to be active in the community, currently serving on the Boards of several non-profits namely; Vice Chair of The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, Vice Chair of The Council for Education Change, the incoming chair for 2010-2011 of The Community Foundation of Tampa Bay, board member of the Hillsborough Education Foundation, University Area Community Development Corp., and was the 2005/06 chair of the United Way of Tampa Bay, and past member of the board of The Patel Foundation of Global Understanding.
He holds a BBA degree in Finance from Bernard M. Baruch college of The City University of New York and an MBA in Management from New York University. Mr. Marshall was born in Jamaica W.I., and is married with one child, a son.
